Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Seal, Ribbed Belt Side

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Seal remover (T40019)

‹› Assembly tool (T40048)

Procedure

-

Remove vibration damper. Refer to --> [ Vibration Damper ] See: Cylinder Block Assembly/Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley/Service and
Repair.

Place inner part of oil seal extractor (T40019) flush with the outer part and secure using the knurled thumb screw.

Lubricate the threaded head of the seal remover, place against the seal, and with strong force screw into the seal as far as possible.

Loosen knurled thumb screw and turn inner portion against the crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.

-

Clamp seal extractor at mounting points in a vise.

-

Remove seal using pliers.

-

Clean the operating and sealing surfaces.

-

Position assembly device (T40048/1) on pull sleeve (T40048/2) and slide seal - A - onto pull sleeve.
