This Bulletin is used when a Rough Idle is the only complaint.

If ECM programming has previously been updated to Software (SVV) version 0050 (see Technical Bulletin - Customer States Vehicle Hesitates,
instance 2010339):

This Bulletin DOES NOT apply (SW version 0050 contains the same rough Idle programming modifications that this Bulletin addresses).

Updating to SW version 0050 also changes the Throttle Valve mapping and may influence the Customer's perception of how the vehicle responds to
throttle application.

When customer states a Rough Idle is accompanied by a Hesitation:

Perform ECM programming update version 0050 (unless previously performed) When Rough Idle is the only customer concern, proceed as follows:

PROCEDURE:

Engine Control Module Update - Programming (Flashing)

If you encounter a vehicle with a "TUNED" ECM, prior to performing the Update - Programming" (flashing) procedure:

Your Dealership should place the vehicle owner on notice in writing, that their ECM was found to have been tuned, and that any damage caused by the
tuning of the ECM (including any adverse emissions consequences) will not be covered by Volkswagen of America, Inc. warranties.
