Lower vehicle.

-

Remove brake pedal depressor (VAG 1869/2).

-

Raise vehicle.

-

Rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time  so that the front driveshaft rotates 1/2 turn (180 degrees).

-

Lower vehicle.

-

Insert brake pedal depressor (VAG 1869/2).

-

Raise vehicle.

-

Remove the remaining three bolts from front driveshaft at front  final drive and at transfer case.

Remove transmission carrier as follows:

-

Place engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) with universal adapter (1359/2) and  a block of wood - A - under transfer case.

Do not loosen bolts - arrows - yet.

-

Remove transmission carrier bolts - arrows - from  structure.
