Catalytic Converter

‹› After exhaust system installation work, ensure system is spaced far  enough away from body. If necessary, loosen the flange on the catalytic

converter  and realign mufflers and exhaust pipes. Refer to --> [ Aligning Exhaust System ] See: Service and Repair/Aligning Exhaust System. 

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A)

‹› Adapter (T10337)

Removing

-

Remove mount - 1 - from transmission carrier -  2 -.

-

Support transmission as shown using engine and transmission  jack (VAG 1383 A) and installed adapter (T10337).

-

Completely remove transmission carrier - 2 -.

-

Disconnect flanges in front of catalytic converters.

-

Loosen double pipe clamps and slide onto center muffler.

-

Disengage catalytic converters at mount.

-

Remove catalytic converters.

CAUTION!
Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) should  not be used for support during assembly. It should not stand unsupervised  under
vehicle.

Installing

Assembly is performed in reverse order of removal.

-

Note that all nuts and seals are to be replaced.
