Special tool VW 160 is required to unlock radio from instrument panel on some 1984 Volkswagen import models.
Originally, this new radio locking mechanism was scheduled for introduction with the 1985 model year vehicles. However, we have received information
from VWAG that this production change will now occur with vehicles produced from December, 1983.
Tool VW 160 is considered Minimum Requirement for every Volkswagen dealer and one set (2) will be shipped to each dealer who is participating in
the Automatic Supply Program the week of February 1, 1984.
Should you decide not to receive this tool please notify your Volkswagen Regional/Distributor Service Department by January 25, 1984.
It is important to note that this special tool is included in the 1984 Audi special tool package. Only Volkswagen exclusive dealers will receive this new
special tool.
