In response to complaints of loose A/C hose fittings at
the A/C compressor, install the following repair
kit:
P/N 255 272 004
Kit includes:
P/N 255 272 741 low pressure (suction) fitting P/N 255 272 741 A high pressure (discharge) fitting
WARNING
Always wear safety goggles when charging or discharging system. Be sure work area is well ventilated. Refrigerant-12 is heavier than air and can
accumulate in areas of poor air circulation..
Avoid inhaling fumes when using flame type leak detector. Refrigerant-12 becomes poisonous gas after coming into contact with open flame.
CAUTION
Always discharge refrigerant from air conditioner system before loosening connections, hoses, etc.
Work sequence
-
discharge A/C system
-
remove both A/C hose fittings from A/C compressor
-
cut fittings from hoses at end of crimp
-
discard hose fittings
-
insert new fittings into hoses approximately 37.0 mm (1.5 inches)
-
clamp fittings to hose using size 8 refrigerant hose clamps (obtain locally )
-
install new O-rings to fittings
-
install fittings on compressor and tighten

low pressure hose 34.0 N-m ( 25.0 ft.lbs. )
^
high pressure hose 30.0 N-m (22.0 ft.lbs.)
-
evacuate and recharge A/C system
Suggested repair time:
115 T.U.
Note
Plug all openings in system when removing/ replacing parts. This prevents entry of dirt and moisture which may foul system.
