Camshaft: Service and Repair
Camshaft, Installing/Removing
Removing
- with cylinder head installed, turn engine to TDC on cylinder no. 1
- remove drive (timing) belt, See: Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and Repair
- remove bearing caps 5, 1 and 3
- daigonally loosen bearing caps 2 and 4
Installing
- cam lobes for cylinder 1 must point upwards; oil bearing surfaces
- mount bearing caps 2 and 4, note for offset and tighten diagonally
- install bearing caps 5, 1 and 3
- locate bearing cap 5 by tapping lightly on end of camshaft
