As of August 1, 1982, all remanufactured complete and short block engines have an oil level dipstick which is inserted through a tube, directly into the
crankcase.

Previous applications inserted the dipstick through the oil filler tube/cap.

When the present stock is exhausted, it will be replaced by complete and short block engines equipped with a hole in the crankcase for the dipstick guide
tube.

When this style block is used on a vehicle produced on or before July 31, 1982, the guide tube hole must be sealed with a plug.
