A loose or broken V-belt can damage the plastic coolant return flange located on the right cylinder head which could then result in coolant leakage.
If the engine overheats for some reason, the sealing surface of the flange can become warped or damaged. If this happens, coolant leakage at the flange
surface is possible which may lead to even further overheating.
To eliminate the possibility of a damaged plastic coolant return flange, a metal flange has been substituted as of 6/88, VIN MV 047 232.
In case of damaged plastic coolant return flange, install:
^
metal flange: 025 121 160 D
^
gasket: N 901 685 01
