Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Brake Pads, Front, Replacing

1.

Raise car and remove wheels.

2.

Remove hairpin shaped locking clips for guide pins. Tap out one of guide pins while holding damper springs in place. Remove springs and other
guide pin.

3.

Pull out pads using tool No. 2917 or equivalent.

4.

Carefully clean out cavity in which pads are located. Replace any dust covers that are damaged. If dirt has penetrated into cylinder due to a
damaged cover, recondition brake caliper. Check brake disc and resurface if necessary.

5.

Press caliper pistons back into their bores with tool 2809 or a suitable wide bladed screwdriver. Use caution if a screwdriver is used to avoid
damage to rubber dust covers. When pistons are pressed back into their bores, brake fluid in master cylinder can overflow.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: 

a. If caliper has previously been equipped with intermediate shims, rubber coated spacers or damper washers, they should be reinstalled. In the

case of round damper washers, smaller contact face should face pad. Do not install spacers or shims with round damper washers.
