The following procedure must be observed when replacing a control unit.
1).
Make sure that all available diagnostic procedures have been performed, including checks of basic engine parameters such as compression, air
and fuel filters, spark plugs, electrical connectors, etc. Assure that other possible problem sources have been ruled out.
2).
If the cold start kit, p/n 3531106-7, has been installed, IT MUST BE REMOVED prior to installing the exchange control unit. Programming to
improve cold starting is already included in the new units.
WARRANTY STATEMENT: Normal routines for warranty consideration of replaced control units, including testing of returned units, will be applied.
It is important therefore, that proper and careful diagnosis be performed to avoid costly repeat repairs and inconvenience
to our customers.
