Hall Effect Sensor: Testing and Inspection
ENGINE WILL NOT START
1.
Check for spark at coil wire and plug wires. If spark is present, check secondary ignition components. If no spark is present, proceed to step 2.
2.
Disconnect distributor connector.
3.
Turn ignition ON and bridge terminals B and C several times at the distributor harness. Coil wire should spark each time the terminals are bridged.
4.
If coil wire sparks, check and replace the distributor hall switch.
5.
If coil wire does not spark, check control unit ground connection at intake manifold.
6.
If ground is OK, check for voltage at terminal 15 at the ignition coil. If voltage is not present, check the circuit between the ignition switch and
terminal 15 of the coil.
