Install oil tubes.

Complete reassembly by installing steering rods, bellows and ball studs. Be sure to stake the steering rod ball joints.
Power Balance Test
1.
Connect test equipment. Position pressure gauge at cowl so it can be read from the driver's seat.
2.
Fill fluid reservoir. Start engine and turn steering wheel slowly from side to side to bleed the system. Refill reservoir, if necessary.
3.
Remove steering wheel impact cover and attach a torque wrench to the steering wheel retaining nut. Start engine and turn torque wrench clockwise
while watching the pressure gauge. Read torque the moment the pressure gauge approaches 1.2 kPa. (170 psi.). Repeat the procedure while turning
to the left (counterclockwise).
Vehicles with ``SRS'' designation on steering wheel are equipped with an air bag restraint system. Use
extreme caution when working on steering wheel and related parts to avoid personal injury.

If the torque difference between the left and right turns exceeds 1 Nm (8.8 inch lbs.) shut the engine off and remove the locknut and lock washer
from the pinion lower bearing. Install tool No. 5054.

If torque should be increased for left side and decreased for right side, unfold lock washer tab which was previously bent against the adjusting nut.
Bend in the next tab to the left of the previously bent tab. To change pressure in the opposite direction, bend the tab to the right of the previously
bent one. Turn adjustment nut so the lock can be installed. Bending the next tab to the left increases torque .5 Nm (4 inch lbs.) for the left side and
decreases equally for the right side. Use tool No. 5049. When reinstalling the lock, do not bend the tab tightly against the nut. Recheck the power
balance as outlined in Step 3. When balance is correct, bend the tab tightly against the nut, remove tool No. 5054 and replace the cover.
