1978: New type lever introduced in production to eliminate play. Only fits on the type 3 (extended length) gear selector shaft. Early type levers
fit both early and late type shafts.

10. Install lever on shaft. Tightening torque 14 Nm (10 ft lb).

11. Connect control rod to lever.
12. Install valve body.

Check shift linkage.
