REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE MANUAL TP 30282/2 (ENGLISH) SECTION 8 (87) CLIMATE CONTROL (HEATER UNIT) 240,
260 PAGES 38-44.

The new heater motor, P/N 1370241-0, can be installed in earlier vehicles provided the fan motor housing is modified. The following parts are required
to perform this modification on 1973-1980 vehicles.

Vehicles manufactured from 1981 M/Y are equipped with the permanent magnet type fan motor and do not require a new switch and/or resistor unless
the old parts are defective.

NOTE:

1. 1981 and 1982 vehicles were produced with a 4 position (NO OFF) switch. This switch can still be used or the new 5 position (OFF + 4
Spds) switch can be installed by following the wiring diagrams found in this bulletin.

Some vehicles which were not produced with the permanent magnet type fan motor may already have been converted to the permanent
magnet type. This is easily verified by inspecting the heater motor switch shaft. If the shaft is plastic, the vehicle has a permanent magnet
type motor. If the shaft is metal, the vehicle does not have a permanent magnet type motor.

METHOD

The repair procedures detailed on Pages 38-44 of Service Manual Section 8(87) Climate Unit (Heater Unit) 240, 260, including the revised operations
(N13, N14, N15, N16, N18, N27 and N28) listed on the following pages should be followed when installing a new fan motor.

N13: 1973-80 models

File edges of heater housing to obtain correct fit for motor. Grind down the three oblong sections with a machine grinder.

NOTE:

Clean all surfaces thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering air ducts.
