INSTALLATION OF PINION SEAL

A new special tool has been developed to improve the installation of the final drive pinion seal. A new seal which encloses the spring more fully has also
been introduced as a replacement, P/N 943317-7, replacing the earlier type.

The new special tool is a drift, 999 5538-7. The tool is designed for use in combination with press tool 999 1845-0 (for inch threads). 999 5156-8 (for
M20 thread, up to 1991) or 999 5504-9 (for M24 thread, 1992 on). and can be used for all final drives.

AMENDMENTS TO SERVICE MANUAL:

A number of amendments must be made and two new illustrations inserted in the above manual.

Please cut and paste pages 2, 3 and 4 of this bulletin in the appropriate places in the manual.

On completion of the amendments, file this page of the bulletin in the binder and discard pages 2, 3 and 4.
