Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
Line Pressure Test
1.
Turn the gauge lever toward the fuel distributor. Correct line pressure is 64-75 psi. (4.5-5.3 kp/cm). Insufficient line pressure can be caused by:
a. Leaking fuel line.
b. Insufficient fuel pump capacity. To check fuel pump, disconnect fuel delivery line at fuel distributor. Run the pump for 30 seconds and check
delivered fuel quantity. Minimum quantity is 23.3 oz. (750cc).
c. Line pressure regulator incorrectly adjusted. If pump operates but there is no line pressure, check for clogged fuel lines, filter or fuel
distributor. Excessive line pressure can be caused by fuel return line clogged or the line pressure regulator incorrectly adjusted.
