The pulse-air system (applicable to Canada market only) replaced the air injection reactor (A.I.R.) on some vehicles for the Canadian market. When the
engine is running there are pressure pulses in the exhaust manifold. These pressure differences result in vacuum pulses that allow fresh air, through the
pulse-air system, to enter into the exhaust manifold. Fig. 56.

CHECK VALVES
The check valves prevent exhaust gases from entering into the air cleaner during the high pressure pulses. Fig. 57.
PIPING
The piping distributes the fresh air to the individual exhaust outlets on the exhaust manifold.
