Fig. 92 CHECK VACUUM AMPLIFIER

Vacuum amplifier check: 

Disconnect vacuum hose marked "V" from the vacuum amplifier.
Start engine and run until the thermostat opens.
Connect a vacuum pump to the vacuum amplifier at connection "V" and apply vacuum. E.G.R. valve should open if the amplifier is working correctly.
If E.G.R. valve does not open, turn off engine, replace vacuum amplifier and retest as described above. Fig. 92.
Reconnect vacuum hose "V".

Air filter inlet check: 

Check that air filter inlet is leak proof. Leaks would cause a change in venturi vacuum. This would influence the operation of the E.G.R. system.
Check air filter housing, inlet hose and air filter. Fig. 93.
Repair or replace defective parts as needed.
