THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS APPLICABLE TO THE CANADIAN MARKET ONLY.

If customers complain of difficult warm starting in hot weather, after sitting between 5-30 minutes, the following procedure is recommended.

PROCEDURE 1.  CARS EQUIPPED WITH A HOT START VALVE (introduced mid May 80):

Make sure that the valve is connected according to the illustration.

That the float chamber is connected to the canister when the ignition is switched off. (marked with broken arrow in the illustration)

That the float chamber is connected with the intake at the carburetor when the ignition is switched on. (marked in solid arrow in the
illustration)

Make sure that there are no loops in the hoses where fuel can be collected. Pay special attention to the hose that goes under the strut tower on
M.Y. 82/83. Reroute the hose according to the illustration if it was originally routed over the coil.

Any of the conditions noted may cause a "venting problem", resulting in an overpressure in the float chamber at hot soak. This can force gasoline into the
inlet manifold and make the engine too rich and hard to start.
