The following "Service Note" will be directed to all Volvo owners in the Spring 1984 issue of VIA VOLVO:

"Important Service Note -

Have you had your PCV system checked lately?

One of the unfortunate side-effects of using poor quality fuels and/or engine oils is the possibility of deposits building up in the positive crankcase
ventilation (PCV) system of the engine. If the PCV system becomes clogged, oil can be forced out of the engine under pressure. Unless corrected, this
could ultimately lead to engine damage.

Regardless of what kind of fuel and oil you use, Volvo recommends that the PCV system on 4-cylinder engines be checked at 15,000 mile/25,000 km
intervals. If you have not had this service performed, you should do so as soon as possible.

We introduced a modified PCV orifice during production of 1983 DL and GL models, which is less sensitive to deposit formation. If you own a 1981,
1982 or early 1983 car equipped with a 4- cylinder engine, your Volvo dealer is authorized to replace the original orifice with a re-designed part. There
will be no charge for this service."

As stated in the "Service Note", Volvo will accept claims for fitting of the later type flame trap on applicable vehicles (refer to Service Bulletin Group
22, No. 104, dated September 1983).

CLAIM SUBMISSION PROCEDURES - U.S. ONLY

Warranty claims should be submitted under warranty Type "02", in accordance with normal warranty procedures. It is extremely important that the
following information be supplied on the claim:
