CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Customer Service Notices will be sent to owners of affected vehicles. This notice requests that the owner contact his/her selling dealer to arrange for an
appointment to have the corrective action carried out. Mailing will be scheduled to take place on or about February 2, 1987.
PARTS ORDERING
No automatic allocation of parts will be made. Dealers may order parts as needed from their Servicing Distribution Center. (See Parts Bulletin for
details.)
CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY
Dealers are to repair all vehicles within the range regardless of mileage or vehicle age. This repair, covered under Service Campaign 44, is free of charge
to the owner. In the event that an owner has lost or misplaced the original Campaign Notice, he/she is not to be refused this important modification. For
this purpose, a small supply of blank Vehicle Campaign Notices is available from your Volvo District Office. Your Regional Service Manager will
follow up to ensure that this campaign is proceeding smoothly.
CAMPAIGN REIMBURSEMENT
Reimbursement is based on the repair codes entered on the Vehicle Campaign Notice. The time allocation includes 0.1 hours for
preparation/administration time over and above the time necessary for the modification.

Dear Volvo Owner:
Clean air is everyone's responsibility. Volvo wants to do its part to be sure its cars meet the strict regulations of the State of California.
The California Air Resources Board has determined that your vehicle may be releasing air pollutants in excess of the California standards. These
standards were established to protect your health and welfare from the dangers of air pollution.
We would like to inspect your car and, at our expense, install vacuum delay valves in the ignition and fuel injection systems to help your vehicle comply
with the law. In order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty made applicable to your vehicle by State or Federal law, and your right
to participate in future recalls, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could legally be determined to
be a lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but I urge you to call and schedule an appointment. Your Volvo dealer is prepared to perform this free service, which
will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Remember, state law may require periodic engine emission tests. Your car may not pass if this
inspection and modification is not made.
