WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WITH PUR BONDED WINDSHIELD
To ensure satisfactory bonding all bonding areas on the bodywork should in the future be prepared using RIM activator P/N 1161373-4. This applies if
there are mixed bonding surfaces, e.g. primer, aged topcoat and old FUR adhesive residue.
RIM activator, which is supplied with the FUR bonding kit, ensures FUR bonding to all types of bonding surface. RIM activator is suitable for use as the
only activator used, instead of using several different activators. RIM activator is best applied using the felt brush supplied with the FUR bonding kit.
The activator evaporates rapidly. The windshield can be bonded after approximately 2 minutes.
When removing butyl taped windshields, great care is required when cleaning the flange around the windshield before installing the new windshield.
Cars from model year 1991 should have the butyl taped windshield installation replaced by FUR bonding windshields.
If FUR bonding is to be used on cars older then model year 1991 the windshield must also be replaced by the new type. For the replacement part number.
