Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
Manual Transmission
NOTE: Special Tools Required: 1801, 5111, 5112, 5276.
1. Remove pressure plate and clutch:

Loosen pressure plate bolts crosswise, and a couple of turns at a time, to avoid stress fractures.
Flywheel With Tool # 5112
2. Remove flywheel:

Use gear sector 5112 to lock flywheel when removing bolts.
Oil Seal Removal
3. Remove rear oil seal:
-
Use a screwdriver to pry out oil seal. Be careful not to damage sealing surfaces on holder or crankshaft.
CAUTION: Note seal position in relation to sealing flange so correct position is known when installing new seal.
