Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Removal

The procedure for installing a new evaporator differs slightly between LHD and RHD models.

In LHD models, the evaporator pipe to the accumulator must be capped. See Q8. The evaporator will not come out otherwise. With the new evaporator,
the joints are in the passenger compartment.

In RHD models, the climate control system must be removed complete. See Air Flow Control Box - A/C.

Q1

Remove battery negative lead.

Q2

Drain system of coolant.

Q3

Remove the two pipe connections from the accumulator.

Important:  Plug accumulator connections immediately.

Q4

Remove:

-

the coarse pipe connection from the evaporator. Leave the smaller connection in place to prevent swarf getting into the pipe when capping it.

-

screw from accumulator clamp.

-

the accumulator itself.
