Speedometer Head: Testing and Inspection

Speedometer, fault tracing 

^  VDO instruments: Check that speedometer seal is not broken and causing poor contact.
^  Check that both speedometer and trip recorder are out of service.

If only one is unserviceable, speedometer is faulty. Replace speedometer.   See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service and Repair

If both are unserviceable, wiring may be open or short-circuited.

^  Use ohmmeter to check wiring.

- 

If wiring is intact, speedometer is faulty. Replace speedometer.   See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service and Repair
