Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
ABS Brakes
Tools:998 5876, automatic filler cap/bleeder unit
Note! Bleeding an ABS system takes longer than bleeding a conventional brake system. Take care to clean area around fluid reservoir cap first. Where
necessary, remove the reservoir and clean it.
Bleeding Using a Bleeder Unit
(Bleeding may be carried out with the wheels in position)

- Jack up vehicle. Fill brake fluid reservoir to maximum.

Install Automatic Filler Cap
- Run a tube between cap and a container containing fresh brake fluid.

Start by bleeding front left wheel
- Connect bleeder tool to one of bleed nipples.
- Connect bleeder unit. Connect an air hose to the other side of the unit.
- Open bleed nipple and close it when only small bubbles can be seen in hose. (The small bubbles are air drawn in via the bleed nipple threads).
- Connect tool to other nipples and repeat procedure.
Continue bleeding system in following order:
‹› rear right wheel
‹› front left wheel
