EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
Fig. 122 E.G.R. VACUUM BOOSTER
NOTE:
The EGR controller is used on California market vehicles only.
PURPOSE
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) controller controls the amount of vacuum delivered to the EGR valve.
LOCATION
Mounted on the driver side strut tower.
OPERATION
The EGR controller receives 12V current when the ignition switch is in the ON position. The ECU controls the ground connection of the EGR
controller, using varying frequencies (duty cycle) to control the amount of controller passage opening. This allows intake manifold vacuum to flow
to the EGR valve in a controlled manner.
