Auxiliary Air Valve (Idle Speed): Description and Operation
This valve provides fast idle during engine warm-up. It consists of an air duct, valve and bi-metal spring. When the engine is cold, the bi-metallic
spring forces the valve open and allows air to pass through the duct. After the engine has started, current flows through the electric wire wrapped around
the bi-metallic spring. Heat from the wire causes the spring to bend away from the valve. The return spring acts on the valve and closes off the air duct.
