Install camshaft and bearing caps

NOTE:

If the camshaft bearing surfaces are worn or damaged, replace the camshaft.

Apply assembly paste, P/N 1161006- 0, to camshaft bearing surfaces.

Fill oil holes with engine oil

Lubricate:

-

bearing caps

-

cam lobes

-

tappets and adjusting shims. Install front seal on camshaft. Place camshaft and rear bearing cap on cylinder head. Guide pin for camshaft pulley
should face up.

Press camshaft onto cylinder head with tool 9995021-4.

Tighten the nuts or the rear bearing cap by hand.

Smear front bearing cap sealing face with sealer P/N 1161027-6.

Install the bearing cap and tighten the nuts by hand.

Lubricate and install two more bearing caps. Tighten the nuts by hand.

Remove tool 9995021-4.

Lubricate and install center bearing cap.

Torque bearing cap nuts to 20 N-m (14 ft.lbs.)
