Unscrew fuel gauge sender cap using a wideblade screwdriver and hammer.
Inspect sender for damage. Check pre-pump hose and wires for wear, damage, etc. and replace if necessary.
for 740 GLE only:
Check/adjust level equalizer tube.
Installation
Install:

rubber seal in neck of tank. Lubricate inside of seal.

fuel gauge sender. Align it with the moulded joint (arrows) on tank.
Apply rustproofing compound, Part No. 282767-3, to exposed metal surfaces of sender.
