THIS BULLETIN IS APPLICABLE TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS, REPLACES SERVICE BULLETIN GROUP 51 NO. 13 DATED
JULY, 1984.
Volvo has performed extensive testing to develop a new front brake pad with greatly reduced noise level. The brake pad was designed to meet Volvo's
high standard for smooth, reliable stopping.
These new front pads P/N 272873-1 are normal service pads. Special shims have also been developed to further reduce the possibility of noise. It is
suggested that when the new pads are installed, you also install four window shims P/N 1359198-7.
IMPORTANT! BRAKE PADS MUST BE CAREFULLY MATCHED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS TO PROVIDE PROPER PERFORMANCE.
It has been important in the past, and even more today, to install the correct combination of friction material front to rear. This matching of pad material
gives the customer straight stops, with acceptable pedal force, and the predictable performance they have come to accept.
It is, therefore, extremely important to only use P/N 272873-1 (DB-818) front in combination with P/N's 272876-4 or 272812-9 (DB-828) rear. No other
combinations are acceptable.
We will continue to market P/N 272810-3 (DB-828) for customers who need longer service life (ex. Taxi).
