Position combination bushing/lock sleeve so that cut out sections face end of rack. Also, opening (left arrow) for locking wire should be in line with
elongated hole (right arrow) in tube.

NOTE:

Take care not to damage bushing O-ring on locking wire groove (right arrow).

Install locking wire. Turn bushing until wire is correctly positioned in groove.

Center rack. Pack teeth with grease. Place pinion in housing, flat side facing as shown

Place rack in housing so that end protrudes 55 mm (2.2 in.) with pinion in position.

Exercise extreme care when sliding pinion into position to prevent damage to valve.

Check that pinion and rack mesh. Also that flat side of pinion is in one of the three positions as shown on left.

Perform B17

Install pinion lock nut (arrow)

Use a new nut.
