Caliper Rattle

THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS APPLICABLE TO THE US AND CANADIAN MARKETS.

Front brake squeal and rattle from brake calipers can in some cases be lessened by the following:

Girling (early type)

Brake squeal can be cured by chamfering the edge, as illustrated.

NOTE! Use lubricating paste P/N 1161037-5 on the backing plate of each pad.
Rattling noise from the front caliper (sounds like hub caps) can be cured by using Permatex Disc Brake Quiet (Permatex P/N 127MA) on the backing
plate of each pad.

NOTE! Follow the instructions on the spray can.

Only Girling (early type) may have warranty claims submitted under the new car warranty under Operation No. 511513 Time Allowance 0.7 hours.
