THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS.
Brake disc or pads should not be replaced indiscriminately for noise complaints. Consult with your Regional Service Manager, if abnormal problems
arise.
When dealing with general brake disc/pad noise the following facts should be considered.
Brake pads are required to maintain a high level of performance while operating under extreme environmental conditions, as well as all types of road
conditions. Therefore, when designing brake lining material, many factors are taken into consideration.
Among these factors are:

Government regulations.
*
Ability to withstand extreme operating temperatures.
*
Pad and disc wear factors.
*
Operating noise level.
*
Moisture resistance.
*
Friction coefficient/stability.
*
Pad and disc size.
*
Acceptable pedal force.
*
General noise.
Because of these and other factors, compromises must at times be made in the development of suitable brake lining material. Priority is given, of course,
to areas vital to reliable brake performance.
After all major requirements are met, a compromise is sometimes necessary regarding squeaking or groaning noise noticed especially during warm and
dry weather conditions usually with light pedal application. These noise periods are considered normal behavior of disc brakes; and do not in any way
indicate the brakes are not functioning properly.
