Ventilated Brake Rotors and New Brake Calipers Front

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS.

A new type of ventilated brake rotor and brake caliper were introduced in production January, 1983.

The new brake calipers and pads are manufactured by DBA
(Bendix).

Inspection of Brake Pads:

Note! It is necessary to remove the wheel to check the thickness of the pads.

-

mark wheel position

-

remove wheel

-

check brake pad condition

Note:

Linings should under no circumstance be used if less than 1.5 mm (0.060 in).

Replace Brake Pads:

-

slacken lower sliding pin and lift up caliper

-

remove brake pads

-

install new brake pads

-

check that spring is located correctly in brake caliper.

-

check rubber boots

-

position brake caliper and reinstall lower sliding pin. The pin can be reused 5 times.
