THIS SERVICE BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS.
In order to reduce clutch cable vibrations and potential noise transfer into the car, a new plastic coated clutch cable was introduced in production at the
beginning of March, 1983 and a new heavier vibration damper in the middle of April, 1983.
The new clutch cable can be identified by its black plastic coating.
If this complaint is received on earlier vehicles, these parts should be fitted:
-
CLUTCH CABLE P/N 1272229-4
-
VIBRATION DAMPER P/N 1330433-2
REPLACING CLUTCH CABLE AND VIBRATION DAMPER
Under Car
Disconnect the return spring and slacken the lock nut. Remove the vibration damper and rubber pad. Disconnect the clutch cable.
Inside Car
Remove the sound proofing material in the footwell. Remove the washer and rubber pad. Disconnect the cable.
Check the condition of the rubber pad. If the pad is cracked, it must be replaced.
