List of current front and rear brake pads, 700-series

Brake pads must be replaced when the friction material wears to a minimum thickness of 3mm, or if it is likely that the material will be worm beyond the
specified limit before the next service.

Note:

When replacing brake pads, always measure brake disc thickness.

If disc thickness is less than the minimum thickness (wear limit), or it will be less than the minimum thickness before the next service, the
brake discs must also be replaced. Refer to the Front Brake Disc Replacement Chart on the last page. This chart has been developed to assist in
determining the need to replace discs based on past wear experience. If replacement is necessary, always follow disc/hub matching procedure
to minimize runout. (See SB 51-111; May 1990.)

The following table specifies the brake pad kits available for replacement.
Note:

Only silicone grease, p/n 1161325-4, may be used for work on brakes. Other types of grease may damage rubber components of the brake
system.

Front Brakes

Pads for DBA/Bendix front brake calipers are available in two versions, either with or without steel pins in attachment tabs.

Pads without pins are installed in production models, whereas pads with pins are available as replacement parts only.

Note:

Damping spring, P/N 3516813-7, must always be used with new brake pads.

Spring must be installed with "arrows" pointing upward.

Anti-Squeal Shims, Front - DBA/Bendix

The front brake pads on all cars with DBA/Bendix brake system are provided with stainless-steel antisqueal shims.

Available only as a replacement part, these shims (p/n 1387810-3) are designed to counteract brake noise such as squealing or screeching.
