Piston Ring: Service and Repair
PISTON RING END GAP
1.
Using a piston turned upside-down, push each ring down into the cylinder in which it is to be installed.
2.
Measure the gap between ends of the ring with a feeler gauge. End gap should be as specified in ``Pistons, Pins, Rings, Crankshaft & Bearings''
chart at the beginning of this chapter.
3.
After installing rings on pistons, check to be sure rings are not binding in their grooves, and that gaps are 120° apart.
