LABELING

The new API classification symbol provides information about engine oil's quality and characteristics.
The symbol may appear on a container of oil. It is a representation and warranty by the oil manufacturer to the purchaser that the product conforms to the
applicable standards and specifications of the American Petroleum Institute.
The symbol is divided into three parts

the top contains information on oil quality

the center shows the oil's viscosity range

^

the bottom indicates if an oil has fuel saving properties

ADDITIVES

The oils that Volvo recommends contain additives which protect the engine from wear, corrosion, deposits, and oil oxidation, Adding supplementary
additives could decrease the protection of the engine. Supplementary oil additives are not approved by Volvo because of potential damage to the engine
and, therefore, should not be used.
