Timing Cover: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.

2.

Disconnect oil tube from cooler.

3.

Disconnect electrical leads and fan shroud from radiator, then remove radiator and shroud.

4.

Remove engine splash guard.

5.

Loosen drive belts, then remove power steering pump and bracket and A/C compressor, and position aside. Do not disconnect hoses from pump or
compressor.

6.

Remove drive belts, cooling fan and water pump pulley.

7.

Remove air intake duct, vacuum pump and left hand valve cover.

8.

Remove oil filler cap, control pressure regulator, electrical wiring and right hand valve cover.

9.

Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC compression stroke, then lock flywheel using suitable tool and remove crankshaft pulley.

10.

Position wiring harness to one side, then remove attaching bolts and timing gear cover.
