Turn idling screw clockwise until seated.

Engine speed should now fall to between 400- 500 rpm.

If speed does not fall, check for air leakage in the intake manifold, and adjust throttle housing.

Adjust throttle housing

Remove throttle housing. Loosen throttle switch. Back off lock nut and loosen throttle plate adjusting screw slightly.

Clean throttle housing and plate.

Check postion of throttle plate by viewing housing against light. Check that the plate is correctly centered with equal space between plate circumference
and housing. Correct as required.

Adjust throttle plate adjusting screw.

Note:

It is critical that the screw not be screwed inwards more than one-quarter turn; otherwise, correct idle speed can be difficult to set.

Adjust throttle switch.
