7. Fit the gear lever knob. Remove any old adhesive remaining on the lever and in the knob. Apply a bead of thread sealing compound P/N 1161

075-5. Press the knob into place. Remove any excess compound.

8. Fit the gear lever.

M46: Secure the wire used earlier to the overdrive cables. Apply a small amount of rubber bush compound P/N 1161153-0 to the bottom end
of the gear lever. Assemble the two parts of the gear lever.
M46: Thread through the overdrive cable at the same time. Don't stretch the cable too tight. Fit the tubular pin.

9. M46: Assemble the electrical components for operating the overdrive.

Assemble:

the pin in the connector on the right-hand side

the connector

-

the overdrive switch

Check the operation of the overdrive. Fit the ashtray.
