Bracket for parking brake cable, replacement

Warning!

The use of protective equipment such as safety goggles is recommended.

If the bracket on the rear axle for the parking brake cable has to be replaced, a replacement part bracket is required, P/N 1232549-4. (Applies to live rear
axles).

Procedures for preventing electronic component damage while welding.

1.

To avoid closed circuits remove the negative battery lead.

2.

To avoid ground potentials for different control units, place the welding ground lead as close as possible to the welding spot.

3.

If welding is to take place close to any control unit one should remove the unit just to avoid the risk for heat damage.

Bracket replacement

-

Disconnect negative battery lead.

-

Remove the cable to the parking brake from the bracket.

-

Knock off the old bracket and grind surface smooth.

-

Weld on new bracket using a MIG welder.

Distance to the final drive housing should be 72 mm (2-13/16").
