Camshaft: Service and Repair
Left Bank
1.
Remove cylinder head. Refer to ``Cylinder Head, Replace'' for procedure.
2.
Slide camshaft out rear of cylinder head.
3.
Reinstall camshaft and install cylinder head as outlined.
Right Bank
The camshaft can be removed from right bank without removing cylinder head.
1.
Remove valve cover.
2.
Attach tool 5213 as outlined under ``Cylinder Head, Replace.''
3.
Remove timing sprocket retaining bolt, camshaft lock and access cover at rear of cylinder head.
4.
Remove cap from coolant expansion tank.
5.
Remove cylinder head retaining bolts and rocker arm assembly. Do not disturb cylinder head.
6.
Remove access cover from firewall. Slide camshaft rearward and through firewall into passenger compartment.
