CO% Adjustment Using Test Diode

Fig. 364 CONNECT VOLVO TEST DIODE

1.

Connect VOLVO test diode #5280.

2.

Connect test diode green - white wire to test connector located in front of passenger side strut tower (test connector also has green - white wire).

3.

The test diodes red wire should be connected to the battery positive terminal (+).

4.

Connect tachometer and timing light.

5.

Run engine to operating temperature and 10 minutes beyond.

6.

Open oil filler cap on valve cover.

7.

Ground red - white wire in the diagnostic plug located in front of passenger side strut tower.

8.

Check and adjust idle speed with air conditioner off.

Reading should be:

700 RPM 

9.

Remove ground wire from diagnostic plug.

10.

Engine speed should increase. 

Reading should be:

750 ± 20 RPM
