Closest to the collision sensor is the wiring for both seat belt tensioners, enclosed in a protective sheath.

Note!

Take great care that the wiring is not damaged.

Cut protective sheath open so that only approximately 30 mm (1-3/16") remains closest to the collision sensor.

Pull out the seat belt tensioner wiring from the protective sheath to the end of the cut.

Tape the protective sheath together around the remaining wiring.

Installing Protective Strips

Install 2 protective strips (see P/N) on the bracket for the Supplemental Restraint System Standby Power Module so that the cable for the left seat belt
tensioner is not lying against the edge of the panel (see illustration)

Preparations

Remove sill trim panels on both sides.

Remove the passenger seat.

Remove rear floor carpet.

Remove rear side panels.

Slacken off the lower seat belt mounting so that the tensioners can be accessed.

Route cable backward to seat support member, along the member to the center console and over member approximately 100 mm (4") from center
