To prevent re-use of the old jack it must be destroyed. Insert the old jack in a vice as shown. Cut the threaded shaft of the jack with a hack saw or other
suitable tool. Hold for DMPS inspection before disposing.

Dear Volvo 850 Owner,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Volvo has determined that a defect
which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the jack of certain 1995 model year Volvo 850 series vehicles. The load capacity of the jack may not meet
Volvo specifications. As a result, there is a possibility that the car may fall while it is raised on the jack. If this occurs, there is a risk of personal injury.

Volvo will replace the jack, at no charge to you. This will take only a few minutes to complete, and can be done while you wait. Please contact your
authorized Volvo Dealer to arrange for this replacement. In the meantime, should you experience a flat tire or other condition which would require the
vehicle be lifted off the ground, we strongly advise that you call Volvo On Call at 1-800-63VOLVO or your Authorized Volvo Dealer, to arrange for
free roadside assistance. Under no circumstances should you use the original jack that came with your Volvo 850.

RE: RECALL CAMPAIGN 72

Volvo Cars of North America, Inc., and Volvo Canada Limited have announced a safety recall affecting certain 1995 model year Volvo 850 sedans and
station wagons. Approximately 31,365 vehicles in the U.S. and 2,577 vehicles in Canada are affected.

There is a possibility that the jack, which is supplied with the car, may have a manufacturing defect. This defect means that the load capacity of the jack
may not meet our standards. As a result, there could be a risk for injury if the car falls while it is raised on the jack.

The jacks in all affected vehicles will be replaced at no charge to the owner. Until the replacement is done, we strongly advise that the jack should not be
used. If owners have the need to raise the car, please refer them to Volvo On-Call at 1-800-63VOLVO in the U.S., or 1-800-263-0475 in Canada.
On-Call will perform the necessary roadside service or tow the vehicle to the nearest authorized Volvo Dealer, as needed.

This campaign does not require a repair to the vehicle itself. If you determine that you can better serve and satisfy your customers by utilizing alternate
methods of jack replacement, we encourage you to do so. These alternate methods might involve delivering the new jack to the customer, rather than
requiring the customer to make a special trip to your store. Since you and your staff are closest to your customers, we trust your professional judgment
and familiarity with your customers in such cases.

THE ONE REQUIREMENT WE MUST INSIST UPON IS THAT YOU SECURE THE RETURN OF THE DEFECTIVE JACK AND ASSURE ITS
DESTRUCTION.

In an effort to reach as many affected Volvo owners as possible in a minimum of time, we are planning to offer some owners the option of having the
jack shipped directly to their residence or place of work via UPS. This will involve a relatively small sample (less than 10%) of the overall Recall
population. You will be notified if any of these customers are on your Dealer Vehicle Campaign List.
