Remove sound wall (insulation) on driver's side.
In cars with SRS:

Remove knee guard.

Turn steering wheel until steering wheel column joints bolt and nut are in the best position for removal.
NOTE: In cars with SRS, remove ignition key so steering wheel locks in position. Do not change the position of the steering wheel or front wheels
while steering wheel joint is off of steering wheel column.
Removing locking lugs, bolt, nut and gaiter [LE9]

Remove locking lugs, bolt and nut from steering wheel column joint.

Remove lower steering wheel column from joint. Prop steering wheel column up in steering shaft.

Bend outer gaiter section.

Remove circlip and gaiter. Take care to prevent dirt getting into gaiter bearing, and protect joint bearing surface.
