Temperature Gauge: Description and Operation
Engine Coolant Temperature
The car has a central ECT signal (CENT), which sends control signals to the temperature gauge and coolant fan.
The analog voltage from the ECT sensor is converted to a frequency-modulated signal, which is then converted by the fuel management module. The
CENT signal frequency falls as temperature increases and is proportional to variations in temperature.
